HIV/Aids

J. Nyawangah

Mens position in the fight against Aids; is it embracing yearly campaign themes or taking action?
Ever since the advent of HIV/Aids over years ago, we have focused almost exclusively on the impact of the disease on lives of women. All too often the human story behind Africas disease nightmare is hidden behind a weight of statistics whose enormity deems simply incomprehensible, dulling those not affected by the disaster into inaction if not indifference.

According to the UNAIDS statistics, over 58 per cent more African women than men are living with HIV. A great deal of the social fall out of this ruining epidemic affects women directly as mothers, individual and the standard bearers in social, and by extension the myriad orphans they are bond to leave he hind.

We stand accused of overlooking the cool to me of HIV/Aids. It is not in significant, by all accounts: By the end of 1999, we are told 10 million African men were infected as compared with 7.5 million in the rest of the world. In 2002 the UNAIDS has recorded 3.1 million deaths in the world 2.4 million people in sub Sahara Africa. 24.4 million people are living AIDS; with 3.5 million new ones. Young men are at greater risk, comprising about 25 per cent of those living with HIV.

It may have been a case of becoming aware of men as the strong, silent type and this is exactly where the problem lies. The evidence shows us here that social and cultural are literally killing them in droves, alongside the women and children in their lives.

While biological factors contribute to the behavioral differences between women and men, in every social, the latters conduct is determined at least in part by expectations as to how men should act - which are often shared by women as much as men.

There has never been any doubt that the key to social change is getting in touch with that part of men that is humane, caring and sensitive enough to change the world. It is the high time that women should start seeing men as part of the solution to the social problems and not as the problem. Also that belief about what it is to be a woman or a man can successfully be challenged and turned on the womens heads.

People should have to view mens vulnerability to HIV/Aids within the context of prevailing concepts of manhood and womanhood. And encourage our daughters to be sweet and submissive and admonish our sons to be bold and aggressive. But the same characteristics that are most admired in men; physical strength, daring and outgoing personalities, virile and sexually adventurous outlook, translate into daredevil attitudes and behavior that are equal to suicide in this day and age.

The live and let live campaign is built in the following pillars: that mens health is important but receives inadequate attention; mens behavior puts them at risk of HIV; their behavior puts women at risk unprotected sex endangers both men and women, and men need to give greater consideration to Aids as it affects the family.

Theories of masculinity mean that boys and men are reluctant to seek help when they should for fear that they will be seen as sissies. Consequently, they tend to have short life expectancy than women and waste unnecessary time in seeking health care for easily prevented or cured diseases.

According to the world Aids body document, young men die more often then women, mainly from traffic accidents and violence- both related to man hood ideas that encourage them to take risks or use violence and encourage sexual and drug related risk-taking.

Young mens behaviors may not be typical of everyones conduct, but there is no doubt that all or any of these elements have fuelled the explosion of HIV/Aids on the African continent. To this case, add the increase in rape and other forms of sexual assault.

And the sharp rise in prostitution, especially among younger women who have had to drop out of school and are forced into commercial sex due to poverty and famine, to make a living of sort and the common myths that sex with a virgin will cure a man of HIV/Aids!

Men, as we have seen above are in a prime position to change the community. Given the fact that they are often better placed in terms of power relations, have the opportunity to change the dynamics of the epidemic infection in Africa. It begins with the way we socialize our sons, ultimately, only real men will be able to make the difference between death and life in our continent Africa.

The next formidable task was finding a web hosting company, which was not difficult. Several companies had an affiliation with the Archives so I gave

Web the nod, based on their reasonably priced package deal including free setup and domain name registration.

Content is King
Knowing that content is king and critically important to a web site, I had already started roughing out some ideas as to what I would put on the website who we were, what we did, where we were located, how much for services and why choose Gjenvick SEO Services. To answer these basic questions, information in regard to the company, the services that were offered, contact information including address, email and phone number and a website that would project the right image were presented.

Web Design for the Users
I had already accomplished web design in the past, but frankly I wanted to see if there was a template available to use. After starting some research on Dreamweaver templates - it was apparent that there would be no shortage of websites offering templates for sale. After some serious shopping time, I chose the Monarch template for its clean uncluttered design.

Making a list and checking it twice
The gjenvick-seo.com domain name was now active so it was time to put all the pieces together although some initial changes were necessary in the navigational buttons. Before long though, I was ready to start loading the website. Having previously drafted out the web page content, it was only a matter of copying and pasting the entire web content into the templates. Since the site was new, no one knew the site existed which allowed some time to upload the website, making changes under live conditions. I performed preliminary checks - keyword analysis, validation of HTML and CSS, making sure images loaded correctly, and running spell check on all the pages. To avoid having listings filtered out by Google and other search engines, I ran a content rating (a self-rating process) by the ICRA or SafeSurf. With all that done, it was now time to go live. The quickest route would be paid inclusion, but the best way was for the search engines to find me.

Getting Found by Google
To start things off, the Gjenvick-Gjnvik Archives linked to my new website, providing a trail for the search engines to follow. I received the first Master SEO Top-10 Rankings Award for 642 top-10 rankings for my work with the Archives. I also provided a link from the award displayed at the Archives back to my new awards page on gjenvick-seo.com. Next I set up another link from the about us section of the Archives to the home page of the Gjenvick SEO Services followed by one more link from a resume that I have always had on the Archives website. Less than a week later, gjenvick-seo.com was spidered by Googlebot and within the next few days listings started to show up in Google, Yahoo and AOL.

The Results are In
I managed a couple of top 30 rankings although I failed to rank on the majority of primary search phrases based on the research with Wordtracker. Next, I went through the web pages, reviewed their META description and keywords, and used a keyword analyzer to help develop potential search phases to find Gjenvick SEO Services. Following, I compiled several hundred possible search terms. Then it was time to see if any of the search phrases would place in the search engine (top 30). Incredibly, I came up with over 200 search phrases - mostly top 10 rankings in the three major search engines. Gjenvick SEO Services was now open for business.

In Conclusion
For those interested in starting an SEO company the following overall steps should be considered:
1. Initially do as much reading and research about the SEO market that you can get your hands on; take courses offered by reputable people so you have a good foundation.
2. Prepare yourself by choosing a good domain name that will get noticed. In addition select an excellent hosting company that you feel comfortable with.
3. Make sure you have some good content to include on your site, as well as keywords, services you're going to offer, pricing and payment options and how you're going to be found by the search engines.
4. Perform preliminary checks to include keyword analysis, validation of HTML and CSS.
5. Make sure images load correctly and be sure to run spell check on all the pages.

Understanding HIV and AIDS

HIV and AIDS are some of those diseases, where precaution is the best treatment. Let's go exploring.

HIV
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retrovirus. It was first discovered in early 1980s. It affects a type of white blood cell (T Cell). Once this virus enters inside the body it completely covers the T Cell and start making a number of copies of itself. It fails the immune system of the body, which causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Currently, there is no vaccine available to prevent HIV infection.

AIDS
When HIV virus weakens the immune system of the body, the person is unable to fight the infection. This life threatening infection caused by HIV is called AIDS. It spread through human. It affects the normal functioning of immune system of the body. Currently, there is no treatment for AIDS is available. However there is a significant improved HIV medication helping HIV positive people to live their life longer and healthier.

Transmission of HIV virus
* Sexual intercourse is the one of the big reasons of transmission of HIV virus. Those who practice unsafe sex, having more than one partner or involved in anal sex may be at higher risk.
* Child can get the virus from his/her HIV infected mother and as a result of breast-feeding.
* Contaminated needle is also a reason of transmission of HIV virus.

Causes and symptoms
* Other people do not see any symptoms in infected person. Even the infected person may not experience infection for many years.
* An HIV positive person may begin to feel sick. He or she can feel low-grade fever, regular cough, chronic fatigue and extreme weakness.
* Heavy sweating at night occurs
* Loss of appetite
* Chronic Diarrhea
* Trouble in remembering things

However, when the doctors examine a patient, they will go through overall symptoms of AIDS instead of any one of the findings.

Prevention
* Practice only safe sex and be monogamous.
* Condoms are successful in preventing AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). So, always use latex condom for you sexual activities.
* Never share needles.
* Blood must be tested before transfusion.

Treatment
If you think that you may have HIV infection, you must get it tested. An early treatment may postpone the development of AIDS. The treating specialist will examine you and do the blood tests. Depending on the tests, results may take from several hours to several days. You can also approach AIDA testing center.

Since at present there is no cure for AIDS, prevention becomes more important. However a group of antiviral drugs that pump the immune system have helped many people to resist HIV infections. They are living a healthy and happy life. But at all these drugs may not be referred as a cure.

The Origin of HIV and the Start of AIDS

Today all of us are aware of the terms HIV and AIDS. The disease has killed millions of people worldwide and it is estimated that 40 million people are HIV infected. But we were unaware of the HIV and AIDS till early 1980. Nobody knows from where the virus came. It is all assumptions that scientists and researchers can make. Researchers have their view on the origin of HIV and start of AIDS. But how exactly one can state cannot be said. There are many theories about the origin of the HIV virus but none of them have them proved.

No record of HIV virus exists in history and it has been said that it started in central Africa and from there it started spreading slowly and slowly.

HIV was identified in 1983.Earlier the researchers found that chimps acquired the disease from eating one of their favorite preys: monkeys.

?Chimps are 98 percent genetically the same as humans, and they don't get sick from SIV. This is an especially important clue for developing an HIV vaccine, the researchers said. Understanding what prevents chimps from getting sick would help scientists duplicate resistance to AIDS symptoms in humans.?

Researchers say, ?Chimps likely picked up viruses from both types of monkeys, and eventually a hybrid formed, the researchers said. That probably happened tens of thousands of years ago, which may have given chimps an opportunity to evolve resistance to an AIDS-like disease.?

Some researchers say that virus related to HIV is found in monkeys in Africa. Many scientists believe that the first humans got the HIV virus from monkeys by eating them as food or being scratched or bitten by them. It is possible that during preparation of the food or butchering the meat the infected blood could have entered the human body through a cut.

A Canadian flight attendant, nicknamed "patient zero" dies of AIDS he had sexual connection with several of the first victims of AIDS. It is believed that he is responsible for introducing the virus into the general population. By 1984 there are almost 8000 confirmed cases in the US, with 3700 confirmed deaths (CDC surveillance report, Dec. 1984).

It is also said that the AIDS virus was first discovered by Robert Gallo at the National Cancer Institute in April 1984. Soon after him Luc Montagnier of the Pasteur Institute in Paris claimed that he (and not Gallo) was the first to discover the AIDS virus.
The two 'co-discoverers' of HIV continue to disagree about the origin of HIV and the birthplace of AIDS till date.

In the middle 1980s the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) was identified by French and American scientists as virus that leads to AIDS.

During Mid - late 1990s there was significant increase in HIV in drug users due to injection of drug, Aboriginal peoples, women, and street-involved youth.

Today, after so much of research and studies about the origin of HIV and start of AIDS the main goal of the scientists is to reduce and eradicate the HIV virus that causes the incurable AIDS.

HIV AIDS is an infectious disease which causes lots of death in the world wide. This is deadly disease where the person battles with the life and death. He fights for the survival and getting rid of the disease. But this fatal disease does not allow them to lead a life. It goes on killing the person with depression or any with other reasons.

What is HIV and AIDS? The word HIV stands for Human Immune Deficiency Virus and AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Virus. The HIV is a viral that uses the nutrients and energy provided by the human cells to grow and reproduces to infect the human cells. AIDS is the next final stage of HIV which makes breakdowns the immune system of the human body and makes unable to fight against infections or the other illness. But sometimes it takes decade or two to turn out from HIV to AIDS if the person has started to undergo the medical care. The symptoms may not be seen for years together to some they may get it later also.

This disease can be seen even in man, woman or even children. According to the estimates of the United Nations HIV/ AIDS says that there are approximately 40 million of HIV/AIDS sufferers. But this is not getting an end at all. Day by day this disease is increasing in the people. They are getting affected with it in one or the other way. This disease has killed millions of people and have left millions of the children as orphans away from the love of parents. It has made its wide by conquering the place of the deadly diseases like malaria and tuberculosis. The wide spread of this disease in the world has made it to stand in the fourth position for the more death causes in the present generation. The transmission of this disease is as follows: * Unprotected sexual intercourse with the positive person either vaginal or anal * Unprotected oral sex with the someone who has HIV * Sharing needles and syringes with someone who has HIV without sterilizing it * Infection during pregnancy * Mother to child in the womb * Breast feeding to the baby * From a blood transfusion from positive person to healthy person

How to prevent the disease from * Not sharing the needles and syringes which are used to inject drugs after used by a person either he may be a positive or not * Not to have sexual intercourse with many and if you have then their is an urge to use the protection condom during it * Not to have the sexual relationship with the person who has been positive. * Have a test over the blood before its transfusion * Use the sterilized or new needles * Educate yourself and try to spread about this to the people who are vulnerable about it

The utmost and bottom line is that you should treat someone with HIV or AIDS the same as anyone else. In fact, they need your friendship and support more than ever. Just think how you would feel in their place. Now a man can survive for years together after getting HIV infection. This can happen when the man starts to have medical care before they begin to get sick. Knowing that you are HIV positive you will take precautions to prevent others being affected from it. But yet the HIV is scary stuff as it has no cure, no medicine, and no vaccine to prevent AIDS. But we have to be thankfully that the virus doesn't easily enter the body from person to person. And Aids Is surely cure by herbal and natural products these are the effective and safe treatment for HIV aids

Knowing The Primaries About Skin Allergy Called Hives

Hives are red welts of small or sometimes larger size that appear in the skin surface. Hives are a form of skin allergy and occurs when the skin is exposed or is subjected to chemicals or substances that trigger allergic reactions.

Hives are characterized by the feeling of itchiness. You know hot it feels when something is really itchy. There is a feeling of uneasiness and discomfort and sometimes wounds and scratches occur as products or results of scratching itchy skin surfaces.

Hives often manifest or appear in people who have already experienced or reported other allergic reactions that may include angioedema and hay fever.

The welts that often indicate or herald the onset of hives appear on the skin surface in clusters or batches.

The affected part feels itch because of releases of histamines and other body chemicals which are the body?s immune system?s reactions against allergens causing hives.

Causes that result to the onset or appearance of symptoms for hive vary. These sources or cause also are ver much broad and generalized, sometimes making the identification of the skin disease hard and inaccurate.

Hives often are body reflex reactions to harsh medications or drugs that are rejected by the body?s immune system.

Hives is not a disease. You should be advised that the skin condition is merely a skin reaction to allergens or substances that are rejected by the body upon entrance.

Occurrence of hives indicate that the body is very active in throwing out impurities and foreign and unlikely substances, indicating that the immune system is really working.

There are also several foods that may induce the appearance of hives in the skin. Common examples of these food are milk, eggs, nuts, fish, shellfish and of course, berries.

On set of hives upon eating or taking in such foods can be avoided by totally eliminating these food in the diet. There are alternatives available in the market for such foods so cravings would be somehow satisfied and quenched.

Pollen, which normally are spread though the air during summer and spring seasons, also can contribute to the onset of hives.

Other causes include animal or insect bites and animal danders, especially those from cats.

Recent findings of hives studies also reveal and suggests that hives are sometimes hereditary. It must be noted, however, that hives can also develop or become full blown after illness or infections like leukemia and autoimmune diseases.

Other ailments that result in hives include hepatitis, angioedema, dog tapeworm, lupus erythematosus, mastocytosis and colds.

Symptoms of hives, treatments and prevention

The most prevalent and common symptoms of hives include appearance of red welts on certain skin portions and characterized itching.

It is very uncommon for the person with hives to develop a fever, but if that happens, immediate help and advice from the doctor is imperative.

Fevers indicate the attack of viral and bacterial elements and heralds the onset or looming danger of a more serious disease. In the case of hives, fever can pin point or indicate the presence or development of complications.

Antihistamines, epinephrine, coticosteroids and sedatives are the sure medications to curtail hives, but their administration and in take should be guided accordingly by physicians and doctors.

Prevention is achieved by avoiding exposure to allergens identified as causes for hives.
