The Origin of HIV and the Start of AIDS

Today all of us are aware of the terms HIV and AIDS. The disease has killed millions of people worldwide and it is estimated that 40 million people are HIV infected. But we were unaware of the HIV and AIDS till early 1980. Nobody knows from where the virus came. It is all assumptions that scientists and researchers can make. Researchers have their view on the origin of HIV and start of AIDS. But how exactly one can state cannot be said. There are many theories about the origin of the HIV virus but none of them have them proved.

No record of HIV virus exists in history and it has been said that it started in central Africa and from there it started spreading slowly and slowly.

HIV was identified in 1983.Earlier the researchers found that chimps acquired the disease from eating one of their favorite preys: monkeys.

?Chimps are 98 percent genetically the same as humans, and they don't get sick from SIV. This is an especially important clue for developing an HIV vaccine, the researchers said. Understanding what prevents chimps from getting sick would help scientists duplicate resistance to AIDS symptoms in humans.?

Researchers say, ?Chimps likely picked up viruses from both types of monkeys, and eventually a hybrid formed, the researchers said. That probably happened tens of thousands of years ago, which may have given chimps an opportunity to evolve resistance to an AIDS-like disease.?

Some researchers say that virus related to HIV is found in monkeys in Africa. Many scientists believe that the first humans got the HIV virus from monkeys by eating them as food or being scratched or bitten by them. It is possible that during preparation of the food or butchering the meat the infected blood could have entered the human body through a cut.

A Canadian flight attendant, nicknamed "patient zero" dies of AIDS he had sexual connection with several of the first victims of AIDS. It is believed that he is responsible for introducing the virus into the general population. By 1984 there are almost 8000 confirmed cases in the US, with 3700 confirmed deaths (CDC surveillance report, Dec. 1984).

It is also said that the AIDS virus was first discovered by Robert Gallo at the National Cancer Institute in April 1984. Soon after him Luc Montagnier of the Pasteur Institute in Paris claimed that he (and not Gallo) was the first to discover the AIDS virus.
The two 'co-discoverers' of HIV continue to disagree about the origin of HIV and the birthplace of AIDS till date.

In the middle 1980s the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) was identified by French and American scientists as virus that leads to AIDS.

During Mid - late 1990s there was significant increase in HIV in drug users due to injection of drug, Aboriginal peoples, women, and street-involved youth.

Today, after so much of research and studies about the origin of HIV and start of AIDS the main goal of the scientists is to reduce and eradicate the HIV virus that causes the incurable AIDS.

The people are really not thinking of the healthy living they just want to lead the life of their wish. And this is the main reason why the man is getting affected with such chronic diseases.

More information meets: dr jack

HIV AIDS is an infectious disease which causes lots of death in the world wide. This is deadly disease where the person battles with the life and death. He fights for the survival and getting rid of the disease. But this fatal disease does not allow them to lead a life. It goes on killing the person with depression or any with other reasons.

What is HIV and AIDS? The word HIV stands for Human Immune Deficiency Virus and AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Virus. The HIV is a viral that uses the nutrients and energy provided by the human cells to grow and reproduces to infect the human cells. AIDS is the next final stage of HIV which makes breakdowns the immune system of the human body and makes unable to fight against infections or the other illness. But sometimes it takes decade or two to turn out from HIV to AIDS if the person has started to undergo the medical care. The symptoms may not be seen for years together to some they may get it later also.

This disease can be seen even in man, woman or even children. According to the estimates of the United Nations HIV/ AIDS says that there are approximately 40 million of HIV/AIDS sufferers. But this is not getting an end at all. Day by day this disease is increasing in the people. They are getting affected with it in one or the other way. This disease has killed millions of people and have left millions of the children as orphans away from the love of parents. It has made its wide by conquering the place of the deadly diseases like malaria and tuberculosis. The wide spread of this disease in the world has made it to stand in the fourth position for the more death causes in the present generation. The transmission of this disease is as follows: * Unprotected sexual intercourse with the positive person either vaginal or anal * Unprotected oral sex with the someone who has HIV * Sharing needles and syringes with someone who has HIV without sterilizing it * Infection during pregnancy * Mother to child in the womb * Breast feeding to the baby * From a blood transfusion from positive person to healthy person

How to prevent the disease from * Not sharing the needles and syringes which are used to inject drugs after used by a person either he may be a positive or not * Not to have sexual intercourse with many and if you have then their is an urge to use the protection condom during it * Not to have the sexual relationship with the person who has been positive. * Have a test over the blood before its transfusion * Use the sterilized or new needles * Educate yourself and try to spread about this to the people who are vulnerable about it

The utmost and bottom line is that you should treat someone with HIV or AIDS the same as anyone else. In fact, they need your friendship and support more than ever. Just think how you would feel in their place. Now a man can survive for years together after getting HIV infection. This can happen when the man starts to have medical care before they begin to get sick. Knowing that you are HIV positive you will take precautions to prevent others being affected from it. But yet the HIV is scary stuff as it has no cure, no medicine, and no vaccine to prevent AIDS. But we have to be thankfully that the virus doesn't easily enter the body from person to person. And Aids Is surely cure by herbal and natural products these are the effective and safe treatment for HIV aids

Knowing The Primaries About Skin Allergy Called Hives

Hives are red welts of small or sometimes larger size that appear in the skin surface. Hives are a form of skin allergy and occurs when the skin is exposed or is subjected to chemicals or substances that trigger allergic reactions.

Hives are characterized by the feeling of itchiness. You know hot it feels when something is really itchy. There is a feeling of uneasiness and discomfort and sometimes wounds and scratches occur as products or results of scratching itchy skin surfaces.

Hives often manifest or appear in people who have already experienced or reported other allergic reactions that may include angioedema and hay fever.

The welts that often indicate or herald the onset of hives appear on the skin surface in clusters or batches.

The affected part feels itch because of releases of histamines and other body chemicals which are the body?s immune system?s reactions against allergens causing hives.

Causes that result to the onset or appearance of symptoms for hive vary. These sources or cause also are ver much broad and generalized, sometimes making the identification of the skin disease hard and inaccurate.

Hives often are body reflex reactions to harsh medications or drugs that are rejected by the body?s immune system.

Hives is not a disease. You should be advised that the skin condition is merely a skin reaction to allergens or substances that are rejected by the body upon entrance.

Occurrence of hives indicate that the body is very active in throwing out impurities and foreign and unlikely substances, indicating that the immune system is really working.

There are also several foods that may induce the appearance of hives in the skin. Common examples of these food are milk, eggs, nuts, fish, shellfish and of course, berries.

On set of hives upon eating or taking in such foods can be avoided by totally eliminating these food in the diet. There are alternatives available in the market for such foods so cravings would be somehow satisfied and quenched.

Pollen, which normally are spread though the air during summer and spring seasons, also can contribute to the onset of hives.

Other causes include animal or insect bites and animal danders, especially those from cats.

Recent findings of hives studies also reveal and suggests that hives are sometimes hereditary. It must be noted, however, that hives can also develop or become full blown after illness or infections like leukemia and autoimmune diseases.

Other ailments that result in hives include hepatitis, angioedema, dog tapeworm, lupus erythematosus, mastocytosis and colds.

Symptoms of hives, treatments and prevention

The most prevalent and common symptoms of hives include appearance of red welts on certain skin portions and characterized itching.

It is very uncommon for the person with hives to develop a fever, but if that happens, immediate help and advice from the doctor is imperative.

Fevers indicate the attack of viral and bacterial elements and heralds the onset or looming danger of a more serious disease. In the case of hives, fever can pin point or indicate the presence or development of complications.

Antihistamines, epinephrine, coticosteroids and sedatives are the sure medications to curtail hives, but their administration and in take should be guided accordingly by physicians and doctors.

Prevention is achieved by avoiding exposure to allergens identified as causes for hives.

The Historical Archive Releases The NAZI Concentration & Death Camps Film Collection on DVD

"With all the mythology around the holocaust a dose of unedited reality is sometimes necessary," reports Steven Chabotte, president of The Historical Archive. "The Nazi Concentration & Death Camps Film Collection delivers raw unedited footage taken by liberators as they freed detainees at the end of World War II. It shows how it really was for these people living in horror and makes it very clear why we as a world civilization never want to head in that direction again."

Hate crimes and violence are endemic in our society. With the recurring outbreaks of violence in the Middle East and the thread of anti-Semitism showing up in many European countries and elsewhere, there is great danger. The motto "Never Forget" has never been more true than today.

"With all the mythology around the holocaust a dose of unedited reality is sometimes necessary" reports Steven Chabotte, president of The Historical Archive. "The Nazi Concentration & Death Camps Film Collection delivers raw unedited footage taken by liberators as they freed detainees at the end of World War II. It shows how it really was for these people living in horror and makes it very clear why we as a world civilization never want to head in that direction again."

The Nazi Concentration & Death Camps Film Collection was created in its raw unedited format to allow people 60 years disconnected from these events to see firsthand the horrors that people were subjected to under the brutal dictatorship of Hitler and the Nazis.

It was built from a compilation of two collections.

The first collection, "Nazi Concentration Camps" is raw footage of Nazi concentration camps in the immediate aftermath of World War II. The footage was gathered by the US Department of Defense as part of the effort to conduct war crimes trials. Footage was taken by the liberators as they went from camp to camp freeing detainees. The film can be quite raw and graphic in some parts.

Included in this collection is footage of the following concentration camps: Ohrdruf. Breendonck, Nordhausen, Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen, Penig, Leipsig, Arnstadt, Mauthausen and Hadamar.

The second film, "Nazi Murder Mills" represents the first actual newsreel pictures of atrocities in Nazi murder camps that were released to the public in a newsreel format. If offers real-life horror pictures revealing the unbelievable atrocities committed by the Nazis in their murder camps

According to Steven Chabotte, "Nazi Germany is no longer with us. But there are similar prejudicial attitudes that still prevail today. This collection of films starkly demonstrates what happened and can happen again in the future if the civilized world allows these attitudes to go unchecked and fester and grow as dark undercurrents to our society."

Chives Are A Wonderful Addition To Your Herb Garden Or Container Garden

Garlic, leeks, and shallots have a little cousin, the chive. It is the smallest and non-odorize member of the onion family. The leaves sprout from a bulb that is planted in the herb garden or in a container garden. Chives are a marvelous way to spruce up omelet?s or soups, even stews, chicken, or fish and its fat free, a healthy addition to your diet. A sunny windowsill can also be used to grow the chive herb. An added bonus, if you grow chives in your ?in ground? herb garden, you are in the fresh air and are getting a little exercise. Can?t hurt, huh?

The chive has been a native of Asia and Europe for over 5000 years. They grow much like grass, in clumps. They send up graceful hollow leaves that will flower into lovely purple puffballs. If you allow the chive in your herb garden to flower the flavor of the chive becomes harsher.

It is not hard to grow the chive in your herb garden or container garden. It needs six hours of sun, well drained soil, moisture, fertilizer and pinching back. The pinching back will make the plant bushy and lush. Always use a high quality potting soil when growing your herb in container gardens. If planting the chive in an ?in ground? herb garden, add some organic mix. A seaweed based fertilizer is best for feeding. You can use your old coffee grounds to mulch around the base of the chive in your herb garden. When it?s time to harvest the herb cut from the base to encourage more growth.

It is recommended that you harvest the chives before it flowers. If your chive does flower you can eat the chive flower but they are intense and should be pulled apart before use. They have a spicy, peppery taste.

As your herb garden or container garden ages, you will want to pull the plant up and divide the roots and then replant. The chive prefers a cool atmosphere so if you live in a hot area it is best to grow the chive in pots inside.

If you have an abundance of chives, make an herb salt by mixing one cup of sea salt with one cup of snipped chives. Bake in an oven for 45-60 minutes, seal tightly in a jar and place in a dark cabinet. This is a great way to spice up any culinary dish.

To dry the chive harvest snip into ? inch pieces, lay in thin layers on trays. Take them outside to a sunny spot and allow drying for 8 to 10 hours. An alternative method is to snip the chives, spread on a cookie sheet and dry them in a 110 degree oven with the door propped open for 4 to 6 hours.

Fresh chives can be store in the refrigerator for up to one week in a plastic bag. Do not wash or snip until ready to use.

Here is a recipe for an elegant soup that uses the chive as a garnish.

1 cup sliced raw potatoes
? small cauliflower, floweret?s separated.
3 ? cups of milk
4 tablespoons of soft butter
Snipped chives as needed

Cook the cauliflower, 3 cups of the milk, potatoes and salt until the vegetables are tender. Place the mixture into a blender and blend until smooth, (do this in batches).

Place the puree back into pot, dilute with the remaining milk, heat for 5 minutes then stir in the butter.

Put the soup into pretty bowls and garnish with the snipped chives.

Serve with thin slices of French bread that has the crust removed and has been sauteed in butter until lightly brown on both sides. This can be served hot or cold.

Now, enjoy your harvest and the soup!

HIV Home Testing

HIV Home Testing Kits from: http://www.medical-international.co.uk/testcountry.html Making the decision to get tested for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, is a big choice to make. Taking the option of getting tested at home is a relief to many. Today, there are HIV home testing kits available for you to insure confidentiality of your results. Many people ask the question, "Why should you get tested for HIV?" There are a lot of reasons that people get tested for HIV. Maybe you're sexually active and have engaged in behaviors that put you at risk of HIV infection. Maybe you're starting a new relationship and have decided to get tested together. Whatever the case, there are many reasons why you should consider getting tested for HIV. If you've had sexual intercourse (vaginal, oral, or anal) without a condom or you've learned that a partner was not monogamous, or you have been sexually assaulted. Sometimes condoms are not reliable and they break. If you have been sharing needles or syringes to inject drugs (including steroids) or for body piercing, tattooing, or any other reasons. If you have had multiple sexual partners, found out that a partner has shared needles, learned that a past or current partner is HIV-positive, discovered that a partner has been exposed to HIV, had a recent diagnosis of another sexually transmitted disease (STD) or if you are pregnant. HIV home tests can tell if you have been infected with HIV. When HIV infection occurs, the body develops antibodies to the virus. The HIV test checks to see if your body is making these antibodies. However, it doesn't test for AIDS. There are three different ways to be tested for HIV: a blood sample, saliva or a urine sample. HIV home testing kits require a blood sample, which can be easily obtained by pricking your finger. HIV home test kits come with a detailed instruction booklet with illustrations which will take you through pre-test registration and counseling; collecting your blood sample; shipping that sample to an accredited laboratory then calling back for test results. You have the option of post-test counseling and referrals. Your results will then be available anywhere from 3-7 days, depending on which HIV home testing kit you purchase. A positive test result means that your body is making HIV antibodies. If the test finds antibodies, that means you are infected with HIV. However, it doesn't mean you have AIDS or will develop AIDS soon. A negative test result means no HIV antibodies were found in your body. But, you could still be infected if you have been exposed to HIV in the last six months. Your body may not have produced enough HIV antibodies to show up yet. Consider getting tested again in a few months. If you test positive, find a health-care professional who has experience with HIV treatment. The earlier you begin treatment, the more likely the virus will develop slowly, so you can stay healthy longer. Many HIV positive people live for many years without developing AIDS, but the odds are better the earlier you start treatment. If you test negative, practice abstinence or practice safer sex. Use a latex condom during each act of vaginal, oral, or anal intercourse. Don't share needles or syringes to inject drugs or for any other reason. Remember, if you had unprotected sex or any other risky behavior that can transmit HIV in the last six months prior to getting tested, you will need to get a follow-up test in six months to be sure you are not infected. HIV home testing kits offer anonymity because they use code numbers or names to identify your test. Your name is never used. You use the code to get your results. You are the only person who knows your results. With anonymous testing, you get to decide who to tell and when. Kits from: http://www.medical-international.co.uk/testcountry.html
